CNC Technician 2

 

Sets up and operates CNC machines or machining centers to perform various machine functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and non-metallic workpieces by performing the following duties. Looking to hire two positions per shift.

Performance Expectations

Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations.  Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments, and workpiece on machine.  Loads control media, such as tape, card, or disk, in machine controller or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from database.  Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to workpiece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.  Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.  Operates machine manually to perform nonautomated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.  Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.  Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.  Ability to recover Fanuc robotic arms.  Use of hand tools for repair of basic tooling/part pallets.  Ability to preset tools in absence of tool setter.  Ability to use CMM in absence of quality technician.  Ability to lead two or more technicians in multiple cells. 

 

 Credentials

High school diploma or equivalent   Five years’ experience with CNC environment  Basic supervisory/leadership skills.  

 

Desired Characteristics

Advanced knowledge of SPC and Quality Systems (TS16949).  Advanced knowledge of CNC Programming G&M codes, and CNC type of machinery.  Advanced knowledge of machining, assembly processes.  Advanced understanding of Control Plans, FMEA, Flow Charts, GD&T, cutting tooling and setup.  Intermediate to advanced knowledge of hydraulic, lubrication and mechanical equipment  Advanced understanding of CMM reports, gage readings, and able to use CMM reports and gages to adjust assigned process.  Ability to train and coach other CNC Technicians and CNC Machine Operators.  Advanced computer and ERP skills required.  Must be proficient in all duties/responsibilities/skills/abilities laid out under CNC tech 1 and CNC operator 1 & 2 job descriptions.
