Position Overview:
The Systems Engineering team is a fast growing, creative and motivated group of engineers consisting of several engineering disciplines. These disciplines include, but are not limited to biomedical, mechanical, electrical, and computer science engineering. The team’s primary focus within R&D is ensuring all new product innovations are safe, effective, and satisfy requirements for the final product utilized by the end user. The systems team works hand in hand with several other groups within the R&D organization to drive all aspects of the design and development process including alignment on high and low level product requirements, risk management analysis, design verification, traceability, and creation of the Device Master Record.

At Insulet, co-ops are considered entry level engineers. This position is designed to provide the selected candidate with a broad exposure to the design and development process for medical devices that are used by patients around the world on a daily basis. This position will be an integral member of the R&D team directly supporting the product development phases of Insulet’s innovation pipeline of wearable pump technology. This role will provide exposure to several aspects of Insulet’s design control processes including but not limited to writing and interpreting product requirements, device integration, verification test methods, troubleshooting/design analysis, and design documentation.

Responsibilities:

Partner with seasoned Systems Engineers on testing the product, identifying bugs, troubleshooting design issues and methods of improvement.

Work cross-functionally to meet project deliverables throughout product lifecycle including FDA and international clearance or commercial release.

Participate in product design, technical reviews, and triage brainstorming sessions.

Develop requirements and risk documentation to ensure product safety and effectiveness.

Participate in engineering evaluations & data analysis reviews.

Education and Experience:

Currently enrolled in an accredited BS program in biomedical engineering, industrial engineering or a related field from an accredited university.

3.0 GPA or higher

Technical writing ability

Experience with lab equipment (testing)

Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Effective communication skills

Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism; exhibits dependability.

Preferred Skills/Competencies:

Experience with data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Minitab, or MATLAB)

Interest in mobile technologies, IoT, BLE communications

Previous co-op or internship experience

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $24.00 - $28.50. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
