Working on a multi-billion dollar construction job, a co-op engineer will have the opportunity to work for multiple disciplines within the same project under the leadership of senior engineers to see all side of putting together contract documents for a large job. This will include designing track, roadway, civil, drainage, and structures as well as exposure to environmental mitigation, power, signaling, utilities, OCS and more to help facilitate multidiscipline project delivery. Rotation will include working with different engineers on design development, construction sequencing and contract documents.
Aspects of the position include:
*Assist in preparation of design documents, including track/highway alignments, drainage, structural design, grading and estimates
*Learning basic transit and high speed rail design and construction fundamentals including staging
*Participate in field visits or client meetings
*Opportunity to develop CAD drafting skill set
Our Philadelphia, PA office is seeking a Co-Op Engineer for Spring/Summer 2024- 2025 to join our Rail/Track/Civil Department with this rotating position.
Relocation and housing are NOT provided for these positions.
What You’ll Do:
Assists engineer teams in various tasks and duties.Assists Engineer with research, development and design of projects.Assists Engineer with the preparation of engineering drawings and documents as assigned.Performs other duties as assigned.What You’ll Need:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering programWhat You’ll Bring:
Understands engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles at a basic level.Shows proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Accepts and applies direction from peers and supervisors.Obtains an understanding of introductory shop drawing and submittal procedures and requirements.Ability to perform basic engineering calculationsAbility to organize information for use in drawings or other documentsWhat We Prefer:
Completion of 2 years of post-secondary engineering programBasic knowledge of a drafting software (AutoCAD, Microstation, OpenRail, OpenRoads, OR REVIT)Interested in track and/or railroad designAdditional Information
