Job DescriptionOlsson is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Coastal Engineer with expertise in coastal processes and numerical modeling. In this role, you will apply your skills to analyze, model, and design coastal and estuarine systems.
You will also contribute to a variety of coastal and waterfront projects, developing innovative solutions to address the challenges of coastal dynamics and environmental issues. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing systems that protect and improve coastal environments, while carefully balancing human development with the preservation of natural ecosystems.
We are seeking a candidate who possesses a MS/MEng from a coastal, ocean, or marine engineering program. The ideal candidate should have completed coursework or have exposure to one or more of the following areas: fluid dynamics, water wave mechanics, introduction to coastal engineering, coastal hydrodynamics, coastal processes, wetland and estuarine environments, coastal sediment transport, and numerical modeling. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of modeling platforms such as ADCIRC, SWAN, Delft3D, and Delft3D-FM. Proficiency in SMS post-processing, ArcGIS post-processing, and MATLAB coding and post-processing abilities is also required.

PhD with emphasis on Civil/Coastal/Ocean/Marine Engineering or OceanographyExperience in scripting with Python, FORTRAN, or C++, along with proficiency in using one or more established scientific and coastal engineering software programs, such as MIKE 21/MIKE 3, XBEACH, BOUSS-2D/FUNWAVE, STWAVE, GENCADE, WAM, TUFLOW, FVCOM, ROMS, or ECOMSED.Knowledge of USACE CEMs and ability to use design concepts in real life problemsHigh Performance Computing experience and ability to run models on Linux based HPC clusters with the ability to develop model specific batch scripting, run time post processing and performance monitoring codes.AI/ML experience in coastal engineering applications.
