We are seeking a Cobol Developer to join a senior team of experts, with extensive on the job training available.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Accountable for analyzing, developing, testing, implementing and documenting business and/or system solutions that will contribute to the organization's ability to achieve its goals
• Delivery of business or system solutions within a SDLC methodology
• Analyze, construct, test, implement and document application software solutions
• Support of application software solutions in compliance with Service Level Agreements
• Alignment to the organization’s chosen SDLC methodology
• Analyze, implement, maintain and document application software
• Diagnose, isolate and debug software problems and perform problem resolution
• Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale system involving real-time transaction processing
• Participate in post-implementation reviews of both application development content and process to enhance and share learning
• Analyze organizational needs for the development and implementation of applications
• Ensure that systems are developed which meet client business needs and specifications
• Maintain records for the documentation of systems development and revisions
• Design and code application programs as needed; create test transactions and runs tests
• Mentor developers on standard methodologies and perform peer review of code

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Science or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of practical experience with: Enterprise Cobol, Z/OS, JCL, ISPR editor
• Proven oral and written communication skills with technical and non-technical staff, management and clients
• Expertise in analysis and problem solving
• Experience with providing on-call support to clients; this role requires participation in a 24x7 on call support rotation
• Experience with supporting sophisticated, integrated systems
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle and testing strategies
• Knowledge of programming standard methodologies

Nice to have:

• Experience with SQL, Endevor, ADSO, IDMS databases
• 5+ years’ experience with diagnosing, isolating and debugging software problems
