Description
As the Housing Manager you will provide support to victims and survivors of Domestic Violence. Managing Housing Navigators, and ensuring the data collection, reporting, and grants management. Working with other housing team components such as DV shelter and Transitional housing, manage and provide direct services to survivors, domestic violence agencies, social service agencies, housing providers, landlords, and other partners. Provide information and referral to help change systems to make housing more accessible and trauma-informed for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV).
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Manage Housing Advocates providing crisis intervention and support to survivors who are seeking housing., as well as helping provide back-up support including assisting them with Crisis and Housing Assessments, helping them apply for housing programs specific to clients who are homeless due to domestic violence, as well as subsidized housing opportunities.
+ Manage the Housing Navigators, providing support with landlords and community outreach.
+ Manage the YWCA meeting and community outreach. This includes working with clients to provide crisis intervention, diversion, housing and shelter advocacy, rental assistance, information, and referral.
+ Manage the internal YWCA Housing and Shelter list for supports.
+ Support delivery of short-term rental assistance with the Director of Housing.
+ Answer phone calls, conduct intakes of new participants, and provide referrals and information to potential housing and shelter participants.
+ Complete data entry and submit necessary reports as required for grant compliance.
+ Stay abreast of Worcester County community housing and shelter issues by building and maintaining relationships with housing and social service agencies in greater Worcester and North central county.
+ Prepare and deliver community presentations in Central Mass on issues related to domestic violence and housing when requested.
+ Support YWCA philosophy of client empowerment and respect for individual choices.
+ Work as necessary with other residential advocates and DV advocates to help support participants.
+ Perform other duties as requested by YWCA management teams.
+ Facilitate training and community educational awareness presentations
+ Ensures staff follow the empowerment-based family advocacy model with all survivors
Qualifications
+ A minimum of two to three years’ experience in human or social services
+ Familiarity with domestic violence and/or gender issues, as well as issues around housing and homelessness, and landlord engagement and retention.
+ Must be organized and demonstrate superior leadership skills
+ Proficiency in Spanish is preferred
+ Computer literacy (Word, Excel, and general Internet skills)
+ Familiarity working with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds
+ Experience developing and delivering community presentations
+ A demonstrated familiarity with LGBTQ+, HIV/AIDS, youth, mental health, and/or substance abuse populations
+ Access to a vehicle in order to facilitate traveling between the agency’s multiple locations
+ Comfort working individually and in teams
+ Innovative thinking to approaching issues of poverty and service delivery
+ Familiarity with social service services in Worcester County
