Coder Abstractor II Position Summary
The primary function of the Coder/Abstractor II is to apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval and analysis and claims processing. Adheres to all Medical Center policies and procedures as well as abides by the standards of Ethical coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to Official Coding guidelines as published by the Coding Clinic and CPT Assistant.
Coder Abstractor II Position Requirements
Education
High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and coding course required. ART, CCS required within two years of employment in the position.Experience
One to two years experience in computer entry and knowledge of Windows preferred. Experience with inpatient ICD-9 CM and outpatient CPT-4 Code assignments. Computer experience and Microsoft Office required.Coder Abstractor II Work Schedule
Full time, Five 7.5 hour shifts per week. Overtime only necessary due to volumes and when approved by the HIM DirectorCoder Abstractor II Benefits
