Coder II Professional Fee
**Job Description:** Accurately evaluate and resolve coding edits in assigned Epic WQs and review documentation and assign appropriate CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes and modifiers as applicable. **Essential Functions** Navigate Epic EMR, including applicable reports and work queues. Evaluate and resolve all types of coding edits in assigned Charge Review, Claim Edit, and Follow-up work queues in Epic. Work the Epic inpatient reconciliation report regularly, as directed by Coding Supervisor. Assign E/M levels of service, procedural CPT codes, and HCPCS codes and any applicable modifiers based on documentation for inpatient and outpatient settings, as applicable for assigned specialty. Communicate coding/denial trends and provider education opportunities to applicable Lead Coder. Communicate with providers via Epic in-basket message and email per departmental guidelines. Adherence to departmental protocols. Utilize organizational and departmental tools as applicable (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite products, Kronos, ServiceHub, Optum Encoder Pro, etc.) **Skills** + Medicare coding guidelines (i.e. NCCI, LCD/NCD) + CPT + HCPCS + ICD-10 + Epic/PB Resolute experience + Accuracy + Detail oriented + Collaborative + Communication **Qualifications** + Preferred - High school diploma or equivalent + Required - CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician) + Preferred – Related specialty credential through AAPC or AHIMA + Required – Demonstrated experience in professional fee coding including Evaluation & Management (E/M) services and coding for the specific specialty service line + Preferred – Minimum of 2 years of professional fee coding experience in the related specialty + Preferred - Prior Epic experience **Physical Requirements:** **Physical Requirements** + Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. + Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. + Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy.
