Coding Operations Manager Position Summary
With minimal supervision from the Director, the Coding Manager functions in the planning, organization, staffing, and directing and coordinating of the coding abstracting area. Formulates, evaluates and revises policies, procedures and job descriptions. Ensure that staff meets current internal and external requirements regarding health information issues related to coding functions by developing and implementing ongoing training and staff development activities. Performs employee’s appraisals, staff scheduling, and disciplines employees who are under immediate areas of supervision as appropriate and in conjunction with the Director. Able to establish control standards for all functions within the coding area and develops monitoring tools to ensure 95% compliance on an ongoing basis. The Coding Manager monitors the daily unbilled reports to ensure that all accounts are processed within the established timeframes, evaluates and analyzes reports pertaining to productivity compliance, quality, APR-DRG trend reports, and 3M quality reports. The Coding Manager maintains final billed report under $100 K weekly and within 3 days for inpatient and 4 days for outpatient. Corrects HSCRC data tape errors received from Finance within the required time frames. The Manager acts as a liaison for external coding audits and reviews monthly reports submitted by external auditor. The Coding Manager assists the Director of HIM in coordinating and implementing physician education for documentation issues related to severity and acuity of the patient.
Coding Operations Manager Position Requirements
Education
High School Diploma required. Bachelor's in related fields preferred. CCS required, RHIA or RHIT preferred.Experience
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience and five years progressive experience in coding.Coder Manager Work Schedule
Day shift, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work as needed. Expected to be available in emergency situations.Coder Manager Benefits
