As our Coding Specialist, you will apply CPT-4 and HCPCS codes to medical records for the cardiovascular lab and interventional radiology departments based on documentation provided by physicians. Every day you will adhere to strict federal coding rules and guidelines in selecting codes that appropriately reflect the services that were provided. Balances need for (95% accuracy) coding accuracy against timely account completion for billing deadlines. To thrive in this role you must, you must possess a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of medical coding standards and guidelines, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Here’s what you will experience working as a Coding Specialist:
Knowledgeably applies ICD-10, CPT-4 and HCPCS to cardiovascular lab and interventional radiology surgeries performed for the sites that are covered by the department.
Coding of surgical procedures performed by cardiologists, and interventional radiologists
Verification of supplies used during procedures
Use of encoders and other references
Maintains appropriate non-leading queries to physicians
Ability to abstract services from physician documentation and procedure logs.
Reconciliation of monthly surgical logs
Managing multiple job tasks daily (WQs, emails, surgical logs, census, etc.)
Attend meetings and training sessions
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology coding experience
Proficient knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4 and HCPCS assignments
Proficient knowledge of CPT coding guidelines
Proficient knowledge of Modifier assignments
Medical terminology
Anatomy and physiology
Ability to maintain high productivity and accuracy

** For this US-based position, the base pay range is $33.00 - $37.00 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
