UW Medicine Enterprise Records and Health Information has an outstanding opportunity for a **CODING SPECIALIST LEAD** .
**WORK SCHEDULE**
+ 100% FTE, Days
+ Mondays - Fridays
+ 100% REMOTE **POSITION HIGHLIGHTS**
+ Facilitates achieving high quality, accuracy, and sustained work completion of Coding at Harborview Medical Center and University of Washington Medical Center.
+ Works in collaboration with Coding Supervisor and other Coding Leads and colleagues to facilitate timely completion of critical medical record reviews for coding accuracy as directed or otherwise needed by Clinical Documentation Improvement, Compliance, PFS, Quality, and other partners in care delivery as needed
+ Supports and facilitate comprehensive internal audit program for inpatient coders and acts as an expert in support of internal audit program for outpatient coders **DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION**
+ Enterprise Records and Health Information (ERHI) is a Shared Service Department that supports all aspects of the patient medical record from governance, integrity, documentation timeliness, completion, clinical coding, billing, release, and tracking to management of access, retention, and destruction.
+ ERHI provides advice and resources related to the lifecycle management of all UW Medicine records
+ ERHI is an integral part of the Enterprise Revenue Cycle and has a unique role in the organization that supports both clinical and operational activities. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Work in collaboration with other Coding Lead positions and colleagues to facilitate timely completion of critical medical record reviews for coding accuracy as directed or otherwise needed by Clinical Documentation Improvement, Compliance, PFS, Quality, and other partners in care delivery as needed.
+ Identify Patient Safety Indicators and Hospital Acquired Conditions as being correctly coded and assist Clinical Documentation teams in making meaningful documentation clarifications
+ Reviews cases coded by staff and contract coders for accuracy and compliance with Coding Clinic and facility guidelines
+ Act as subject matter expert and advocate for coding while maintaining objectivity and providing constructive feedback to coders that result in behavior change.
+ Monitor quality of coding, document findings, present feedback to individual coders and report findings to Supervisor and Manager of Coding Department.
+ Document processes and develop procedures based on the processes.
+ Train coding staff on new process with follow-up monitoring to determine continuing needs for training.
+ Assists in evaluating staff performance and participate in recommending and implementing training opportunities; identify performance deficiencies;
+ Do queries to physicians and be a liaison between Coding Dept and physicians; **REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS** Certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) AND three years of ICD and/or CPT coding or utilization management experience OR equivalent education/experience. **UW Medicine – Where your Impact Goes Further** UW Medicine is Washington’s only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
