SUMMARY
Bering Straits Development Co., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Coffee Shop Assistant Manager for full-time work in Nome, Alaska. As assistant manager, the candidate hired will oversee baristas quality of work, as well as assist in training, report daily operations to overhead, delegate and maintain inventory/supplies in need of restock. The applicant should excel in outstanding customer service, collaborating as a team, and encourage the success of the coffee shop as well as the baristas.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Help manage day-to-day operations of the establishment, ensuring quality service.Train new staff in the process of drink preparation, coffee equipment/sanitization and customer service.Manage inventory levels and notify overhead of products needed for reorder.Collaborate with all team members and recognize individual barista accomplishments.Add new menu items regarding customer preferences and seasonal events.Delegate tasks to baristas based on the manager’s instructions.Maintain point of sale system and contribute to establishments sales.Able to jump into barista role as needed based on staffing needs.Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the establishment. Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
At least 2 years retail and customer service experience.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.Respond well to instructions and helpful feedback.Minimum High School or GED.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Basic financial management skills including budgeting and sales tracking.Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines (understanding general maintenance & upkeep)Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices regarding expiration dates and quality control.Ability to work full time, including variable hours such as early mornings, evenings, and weekends.NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Individual will be required to stand for extended periods of time and push or pull heavy equipment/supplies. In addition, squatting, kneeling, sitting, bending, reaching and climbing are also required. May lift of push up to 50lbs, such as freight, coffee supplies, boxes, etc.

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The job is performed in a coffee shop setting with exposure to hot liquids and requires extensive use of coffee and espresso machinery. Exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals or solvents. Occasional use of computer, keyboard, mouse and telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern coffee shop setting.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
