SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Collections Analyst maintains collection of balances on an assigned portfolio of customer accounts and coordinates the credit application process and reporting tools as needed for the AR Department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works assigned portfolio, (value of approximately $20 million dollars) of customer accounts to ensure timely collection of balances to minimize delinquencyActively improves customer relationships within portfolio and effectively meets cash flow objectives of the companyInitiates the improvement of reporting tools for the departmentCoordinates the Credit Application process for new accounts.  This includes gathering references and understanding the financial reporting tools used at each accountReconciles customer claims and deductions for accounts assigned in portfolioManages Cash In Advance accounts specifically monthly reporting and reconciliationCompletes portal billing for customersActively improves internal relationships with Sales and Customer Service through collections activitiesAssists the Credit Manager on special projects as neededActs as a backup for the receptionist (approximately 2 hours each week)

EDUCATION:  

Required:  High School Diploma or the Equivalent

Preferred: Associates Degree in Business

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Minimum 5 years related work experience in credit and collections and account reconciliationExperience in report writing and project coordination

SKILLS:

Required:

Strong Microsoft Excel and Word capabilitiesStrong analytical skills for problem solving & account reconciliationExperience in creating and improving reporting tools for the credit function while working with an IT departmentStrong verbal/written communication, interpersonal, organizational & negotiating skillsKnowledge of ERP computer systems (preferably Oracle) & applications as it relates to the credit function
