Join our world-class, innovative team today. **Position Specific Description** **Job Title: Collections Specialist** **Location:** Houston, TX **Job Summary:** We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our Credit Risk team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts receivable and collections, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for maintaining positive customer relationships while effectively managing outstanding balances. **Key Responsibilities:** + Manage assigned accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments. + Contact customers via phone, email, and mail to collect overdue payments. + Review and analyze aging reports to prioritize collection efforts. + Negotiate payment plans and arrangements with customers who are experiencing financial difficulties. + Document all interactions and collection efforts in the company’s system. + Collaborate with internal departments, such as customer service and billing, to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes. + Prepare and send follow-up correspondence, including demand letters and past-due notices. + Recommend accounts for write-off or legal action when necessary. + Monitor and report on the status of accounts receivable and collection activities. + Assist in the development and implementation of collection policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness. + Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field preferred. + Proven experience in collections, accounts receivable, or related field. + Strong understanding of billing and collections procedures. + Excellent communication and negotiation skills. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software preferred. + Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. + Customer-focused attitude with the ability to maintain professionalism and diplomacy. + Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). **Job Overview** Employees in this role conduct complex operational analyses and lead medium to large project teams that support informed decision making within the business unit. **Job Duties & Responsibilities** + Conducts analyses and prepares reports that provide operational and/or technical support to business operations + Conducts quantitative and qualitative research to support medium to large special projects + Assists with process design and modification for continuous business improvement + Performs other job-related duties as assigned **Required Qualifications** + High School Grad / GED + Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience + Experience: 3+ years **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree NextEra Energy offers a wide range of benefits to support our employees and their eligible family members.
