LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. The College Lab Technician (Fine Arts Facilities) provides essential support for the Fine Arts Department's studio classrooms and lab, ensuring their smooth operation and maintaining a safe, productive learning environment for students and faculty. Reporting to the Chair of the Humanities department, the College Lab Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: + Oversee daily operations and maintenance of art studio classrooms, conducting regular visual and operational inspections to ensure all spaces meet safety and functionality standards; + Schedule and coordinate repairs and maintenance of art classrooms, instructional laboratories, and equipment following established procedures; + Perform basic equipment repairs, replacements, adjustments, and maintenance as needed; + Monitor facility conditions and proactively identify maintenance needs; + Ensure that instructional and storage areas are maintained in a safe, secure, clean, and orderly condition + Enforce safety and security procedures throughout all facilities; + Maintain comprehensive inventory control system for art supplies, equipment, and materials; + Implement and manage check-out system for tools, equipment, and instructional materials; + Process orders for supplies, materials, and related services in accordance with department budget; + Catalog and organize incoming materials and supplies according to departmental standards; + Recommend equipment and material selections based on program needs and usage patterns; + Maintain accurate records of materials and equipment loaned to students; + Produce and distribute area administrative materials including posters, brochures, schedules and forms; + Perform clerical duties including answering telephones and responding to emails; + Schedule models for studio classes; + Assist faculty, students, and staff in proper use and handling of art supplies, tools, equipment, and facilities; + Deliver information about Fine Art Programs to current and prospective students. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. **OTHER QUALIFICATIONS** - Strong knowledge of art materials, tools, and equipment, and safety and security regulations in art studios preferred. - Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed records and inventory systems. - Excellent organizational and communication skills. - Ability to lift 25 pounds. - May require occasional evening or weekend hours - Physical requirements include standing, lifting, and carrying materials - Understanding of diverse student populations from various ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds - Operation, maintenance, uses, and characteristics of art-related materials and tools **COMPENSATION** $47,509 - $69,517 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
