College of Medicine: Anatomy Lab Manager

The Human Anatomy Lab Manager will work with faculty to coordinate teaching labs and provide instructional support as needed. The individual in this position will be responsible for procuring, maintaining, and returning anatomical specimens. The lab manager will maintain all records and inventory of anatomical specimens while stored and used for teaching in the anatomy labs. Other duties include ensuring lab safety, maintenance of equipment/computers/AV system, inventory, ordering supplies, and supporting virtual and online anatomy lab instruction.

Job Responsibilities

 

Responsible for the procuring, maintaining, and returning of anatomical specimens. The lab manager will maintain inventory of all specimens.Maintain inventory of anatomy lab supplies, place orders, confirm receipt of purchases. This includes tracking use trends and anticipating needs so lab workflow is not disrupted.Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of supplies and equipment, and monitoring of lab safety and cleanliness. This includes submitting requests and working with facilities, IT, and other service offices to address needs in a timely manner.Work with institutional facilities and safety committee/personnel to ensure compliance with standards, state and federal guidelines, OSHA, etc.Work with vendors, such as hazardous waste.Request bids and estimates for all equipment and supplies to assist with budget planning.Track data on lab usage by students, of equipment and supplies, etc. and generate reports.Assist with coordinating preparation and set-up for anatomy labs and practical exams.Maintain anatomic pathology specimens and transport specimens to and from teaching sessions in the pathology lab/classroom.Act as liaison between faculty from all schools and programs using the anatomy lab for teaching and schedule lab times in room booking system accordingly.Supervise and coordinate work study lab monitors and teaching assistants as available.Maintain and operate anatomy lab equipment, computers, AV system, ipads.Transport, lift, and move anatomical specimens. (e.g., human donors)Attend anatomy program meetings.Assist in coordinating events hosted in the anatomy lab (e.g., other FCoM groups, community partners, continuing education courses, etc.)Proctor exams – lab practicalAssist in lab instruction (as qualified and needed)
