The Associate Dean for Faculty Success (ADFS) at the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine (FCoM) at Belmont University creates, implements, and maintains systems to ensure alignment and compliance with all faculty-related University, FCoM and LCME policies, procedures, and practices. The ADFS leads the Office of Faculty Success to develop, design, implement, and evaluate programs, policies, and initiatives supporting faculty advancement, career development, wellness, and vitality. The Associate Dean for Faculty Success is accountable to the dean of the college of medicine and to the chief operating officer.
Primary responsibilities:
Create systems for collecting, reporting, and presenting FCoM faculty-related data.Oversee FCoM faculty appointment, promotion, and tenure processes.Create systems to ensure alignment and compliance with all faculty-related college and university policies including annual conflict of interest disclosure.Facilitate FCoM Faculty Assembly shared governance processes including appropriate representation on Faculty Assembly Standing and University Senate committees.Facilitate faculty elections, committee appointments, and other processes as described in the FCoM By-Laws.Design and implement a comprehensive faculty onboarding program.Promote, implement, and evaluate initiatives focused on faculty development, mentoring, leadership, wellness, succession planning, and retention.Partner with BU Human Resources, Teaching Center, and university stakeholders to meet faculty development needs.In collaboration with FCoM leadership, design, implement, and monitor faculty reward and recognition programs.Establish benchmarks and metrics that evaluate the effectiveness of faculty development programs.Create, review, and revise relevant policies to ensure continued applicability to current and changing circumstances and, as appropriate, recommend policy changes.Develop a communication strategy to inform faculty and staff of policy decisions and changes, procedural updates, and professional development opportunities.Develops and manages faculty conflict of interest disclosure and reporting.Liaison to the AAMC related to Faculty Roster, FAMOUS, and Group on Faculty Affairs.Oversees Quality Assurance efforts related to the LCME and SACSCOC accreditation.The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements.
