Combat Systems Maintainer
Overview ***This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP.*** Under supervision of the Automotive Maintenance Supervisor, performs field and limited sustainment level maintenance tasks on combat systems such as M1A2 Abrams Tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Self-Propelled Howitzer Hull and Turret systems. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions and performs field and sustainment level maintenance tasks on the suspension systems, steering systems, mechanic/hydraulic systems, auxiliary power units, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, gas particulate systems, vehicular mounted armament, gun turret drive system and the fire control system. Diagnoses malfunctions, troubleshoots and performs maintenance on carriage-mounted armament, associated fire control and related systems and components on all self-propelled field artillery weapon systems. Determine serviceability and disposition of defective assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts. Performs maintenance adjustments and repairs on job related tools and equipment. Installs equipment modifications and provides technical assistance as required. Prepare maintenance and supply forms and reports. Performs other duties or administrative functions as directed. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. High School Diploma or equivalent required. MOS 91A, 91M, 91P or civilian/military equivalent preferred. (Must provide DD214 or training certificate(s) to validate training/experience). A valid Driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Kuwait Heavy Driver’s License are required. Ability to obtain host nation driver license. Must be CAC eligible and/or ability to obtain a CAC Experience: Minimum of Two (2) years of maintenance experience on M1 Abrams Tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Self-Propelled Howitzers. Skills: Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, maintenance. Familiar with the use of military electronic or paper version technical manuals. Ability to read, analyzes, understand and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, reports technical publications and documents. The ability to troubleshoot, determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it. Must have excellent communications skills, both written and oral, in English. Ability to work in a diverse workforce. Requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork. Must exercise discretion and good sound judgement. Knowledgeable of the Army Maintenance Management Principles and Standards. Knowledgeable of physical security of government issued equipment Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be customer-oriented and diverse. Ability to handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion. Ability to work effectively with employees and management of all levels to include multi-national staff, superiors, and ranking military officers and non-commissioned officers. Must have good understanding in the use of MS Office other related applications. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
