Join Serco as a Combat Systems Test Engineer. You will be on a team that is evaluating and managing the delivery of new amphibious ships and landing craft to the fleet. Serco is part of a team led by a Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager having decades of experience working in the DoD and Shipbuilding Industry.

This position is contingent on your ability to obtain, maintain, and transfer your Secret clearance post employment.

 

Our Naval Acquisition and Sustainment Operation, which is part of Serco's Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) business, provides critical services to nearly all U.S. Navy amphibious ships and craft. You will work closely with Government and industry professionals, shipbuilders, and other support personnel. We have only one objective: to ensure our clients’ mission objectives are achieved with the highest level of capability and assurance, and at the lowest possible cost. In this role, you will:

Provide installation, troubleshooting, repair and operational test and evaluation support for the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM), Nixie decoy and the Mark 46 Gun Weapons systems.Review, update, and develop test procedures for shipboard testing events related to Combat Systems.Support development and update of Suitability Plans, and develop test objectives, test scenarios, test plans, test reports and briefings.Establish and maintain productive liaison with Government Project teams, Production Teams and Shipbuilder.Monitor Installation of Combat Systems in New Construction shipyard environment.Identify performance issues with the RAM, Nixie and MK 46 Gun Systems; isolate issues to either hardware or software or particular interfaces during testing.Draft and submit software trouble reports that describe the performance issue compared to performance requirements. Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A High school Degree/GED plus 7 years of relevant experience on the Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM), Nixie decoy and the Mark 46 Gun Weapons systems. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.A current DoD security clearance or be able to obtain an interim clearance after hire.United States (U.S.) citizenship.Ability to operate personal computers and have good knowledge and operational abilities with Microsoft Office tools.Ability to support activities in a shipyard or naval facility. Some work may occur within an industrial field office, outdoors and/or aboard ship while the ship is undergoing construction, alteration, activation, overhaul, repair, and/or underway trials. Walking and climbing throughout the ship, to accomplish ship checks, may be required. Exposure to high noise levels, uncomfortable temperatures, heights, or other industrial safety conditions will require use of personal protective clothing and equipment.Ability to travel  10% to support activities in a shipyard or naval facility or onboard ship while underway.
