Combustion and Emissions Systems Technical Specialists #IN1121
**DESCRIPTION** Utilize the core competencies of thermal and fluid sciences in the specialized areas of combustion and emissions science to answer key questions about the performance and architecture of an electrical system or component. Utilize extensive knowledge of Combustion and Emissions Science to interpret and predict the performance of combustion systems by leveraging a quantitative and intuitive comprehension of the conversion of chemical energy to heat by reacting a fuel with an oxidizer, the formation of exhaust pollutants, modeling tools, controls, and experimental tools to answer key questions about the system or component. Apply and improve processes such as Value Package Introduction (VPI), Value Package Change (VPC), Engineering Standard Work (ESW), emissions data system, and hardware-in-the-loop testing to support the processes and enable high quality decision making. Interpret and predict the performance of energy conversion systems such as IC engines, gas turbines, fuel cells, and batteries. Solve system and electrical product issues by using the 7-Step Product Problem Solving Process to determine assignable cause, implement robust, data-based solutions, and identify system root causes in order to recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed through extensive use of Systems Requirements Engineering. Establish acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation and negotiation, and track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle. Define system of interest by drawing boundaries, identifying its context within its environment, its interfaces, and that it has a lifecycle to aid in planning the problem statement, scope and deliverables. Participate in Systems Thinking in order to predict system behavior and devise modifications in order to produce the desired effects. **RESPONSIBILITIES** Positions require a Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience as a Thermal and Fluid Science or Systems Engineer, or related position.
