The Combustion Tech is responsible for the effective, efficient, compliant, and safe operation of the power plant and its auxiliary systems and equipment. The Combustion Tech operates and monitors the status of all plant systems continuously to ensure that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating safely and efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable permits, codes, and regulations. Plant operations include start-up and shutdown, routine maintenance and repair of gas turbine/generation, ancillary equipment, and all instruments, control systems, and electronic instrumentation. The Combustion Tech is responsible for all plant operations activities during assigned shifts, carrying out routine inspections, monitoring, and logging of operating components to provide accurate, reliable operation and reporting of plant status. This includes responding to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions.
Responsibilities:Promote safety, environmental, and regulatory excellence. Exhibit leadership in shaping the plant’s safety, environmental, and regulatory culture.Always operate the facility following all state and federal permits and regulations.Adhere to company policies and comply with all site-specific safety requirements and procedures.Operate, monitor, and track normal operations of the plant equipment.Utilize specific and defined procedures developed in the plant operating manuals to shut down and start up plant equipment with the goal being to achieve safe, consistent, and optimum plant output.Test and treat water chemistry control as per written procedures.Maintain timely and accurate recordkeeping of operating logs, timesheets, work orders, and other administrative documents as required.Investigate and troubleshoot plant issues to correct problems, and/or provide feedback, analysis, and recommendations.Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and de-energized electrical equipment including gas turbine and auxiliary components, gas compressors, motors, pumps, and other auxiliary equipment.Participate in the administrative maintenance and upgrading of operating manuals, preventive/predictive maintenance procedures, technical references, prints, and diagrams.Assist with the training of new and existing operators and other plant staff.Actively support continuous improvement work system by participating in team activities, sharing ideas and opinions at meetings, learning techniques, methods, and skills needed to participate in improvement activities, building good relationships among team members, and coaching team members in new techniques.Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions as necessary.Attend safety meetings and training programs, and participate in plant safety programs as required.Ensure that lock-out tag-out processes and work permit processes are issued and administered in compliance with plant safety procedures.Complete plant operator training.Maintain plant in a neat and orderly manner.Essential SkillsFive plus years of experience in Gas Turbine operations and maintenance.Experience with General Electric LM6000 turbine or similar.Read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams.Knowledge of turbine instrumentation calibration, including various types of transmitters.Experience with control systems.Ability to troubleshoot controls and logic.Exceptional analytic, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work and interact with team members and departments throughout the organization.Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).Ability to multi-task.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Ability to work independently.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in gas turbine operations and maintenance in a similar role.Ability to troubleshoot controls and logic.Exceptional analytic, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
