Commercial and CX Intern (Early Careers)
About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 05 S&P Global Commodity Insights are seeking candidates that will be involved in working directly with our Commercial and CX teams. Interns will be given the opportunity to shadow and assist team members across functions such as Client Service, New Business, Regional & Strategic Sales, Commercial Specialists, Marketing and Channel Partners. Interns will gain exposure and be provided with foundational training covering commodities such as Oil, Natural Gas, Power, Petrochemicals, Shipping, Agriculture, Upstream Solution and Climate Solution. This will be through various deliverables including a group project; they will be able to build a foundational knowledge of the commodity markets, develop essential business-related skills while learning about various Commodity Insights (CI) data, research and analytical products. Interns will be heavily involved in project-based work supporting the business with its key initiatives. The Team/The Business:   You will be part of a global team in Commodity Insights Commercial and CX (Client Experience). You will be introduced to world-class experts in various commodities including former chief economists, traders and risk managers and will work towards producing presentations about how commodity markets work and provide insightful perspectives on global economic, political, technological and legal issues linked to their specializations. You will also be enrolled in an e-learning curriculum, providing foundational knowledge about the technical aspects of various commodities in addition to business related trainings. Exposure to several market subjects’ experts in addition to Commercial and CX leaders. Shadow experienced team members during various client interactions. Handle, under the supervision of more experienced team members, basic incoming client’s queries. Receive hands-on research and business case study experiences and then conduct and present on their own research. Should you meet expectations and perform well, you will be offered the opportunity to join the graduate program at the end of the internship. Rotations and placements are based on business needs and determined by the business. Responsibilities: Support our team in helping clients understand how to navigate and extract useful data from the S&P Global Commodity Insights product range. Support sales teams with research and proposals when appropriate. Support team members in building account overviews and plans to support strategic sales teams. Help designing data-driven models and templates for clients. Support the creation of marketing materials for commercial culture initiatives and future graduate cohorts. Getting involved in special project initiatives where determined necessary by management.  What we’re looking for: Please note that only candidates who are US citizens or green card holders will be considered for this position. Experience working with customers or clients and a familiarity with or strong interest in learning about commodity markets and passionate about Client Interaction. Fully enrolled student maintaining an undergraduate/graduate degree, graduating May 2026. All degrees welcome: concentration in Energy related disciplines, Business, Geology, Geophysics and Chemistry preferred. Courses or background in marketing, sales, consulting are preferred. Strong presentation and communication skills. You must have good telephone manners and be comfortable presenting to large groups both in person and remotely. Good PC skills including the Microsoft Office product range, especially Excel. Intellectually curious; the ability to effectively multi-task and work independently. Willingness to learn and take on a wide variety of tasks.
