About the role
We’re looking for a Commercial Claims Appraiser, Property Large Loss to join our growing team!
You will work on large and complex commercial property claims through all distribution channels. The types of losses may include Commercial Property, Energy, Equipment Breakdown, and additional Specialty Claims.
What you’ll do here:
Provide detailed scope of damage for commercial losses with exposures in excess of $1MAnalyze damage and create rebuild or reconstruction estimates, inclusive of identification and contingency factorsPrepare tender documents and participate in the detailed analysis of bid packages, verifying accuracy, proposed timelines and schedulingCollaborate with the adjusting team to identify mitigation opportunities, and separate covered and uncovered costsProvide a detailed review of contractor invoices, supporting documentation, and recommendations for progress paymentsOversee repair process to ensure timelines and budgets are met while tracking changes to ensure budget accuracyResponsible for time and materials oversight and cost negotiations, such as equipment, hourly rates, profit/overhead and economies of scaleAssist with customer escalationsCalculate ACV and RCV efficientlyDissect overlapping costs and responsibilities in multi-party lossesInvestigate and assess bylaw and code upgrade requirementsWork with multiple stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards, and trends, feedback and learning opportunitiesMentor and guide regional appraisers to support succession planningLeverage your expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support a model of best practice operationsWhat you bring to the table:
Diploma in building appraisal and/or a relevant combination of education and experienceTen years of appraisal experience with a focus on large commercial lossesExcellent knowledge of the Xactimate estimating softwareExtensive technical and practical knowledge of restoration of commercial constructionCritical thinking and curiosity when approaching complex problems in time-sensitive situationsEffective communication that enhances favorable business relationships and provides guidance to clientsA knack for solving challenges while being able to gather information, evaluate scenarios and negotiate toward a solutionAdapt to changing needs with optimism, flexibility, and agilityImpeccable planning and organization skills that can establish an effective strategyStrong collaboration skills with a keen inclination to mentor and coach Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and code requirementsTravel regularly as neededHave a valid driver's license and a good driving record.Bilingualism (French/English) is an assetThis role is eligible for employee referral bonus. #myReferrals3000
