Commercial Credit Officer I
Overview This position within the factoring credit group is responsible for evaluating international import applications for commercial credit, while adhering to related policies, regulations, and underwriting standards. Negotiates and resolves issues with both external and internal customers. Performs analysis and modeling that maximizes asset growth and minimizes credit and operating losses and other risk exposures. May provide training or guidance to less experienced analysts in the work group. Responsibilities Credit Review - Analyzes, negotiates, and declines or approves commercial credit exposures related to unsecured trade credit. Assesses credit risks and establishes appropriate Risk Rating. Ensures credit decisions are consistent, objective, and compliant while meeting Bank and customer needs. Communicates credit decisions to all involved parties and recommends further action. Credit Expertise - Maintains current knowledge market and industry trends that affect the extension of credit and communicates changes to lending personnel. Advises credit approval associates on analyzing, negotiating, strategizing, and underwriting credits. Relationship Development - Establishes and maintains working relationships with management, external partners, associates, and business units to ensure that commercial credit objectives are effectively communicated and carried out. Business Support - Identifies training needs, process improvements, and skill deficiencies among line units. Recommends departmental policies and procedures to address identified issues. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Commercial Credit Analysis, Lending, or Underwriting -OR- High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Commercial Credit Analysis, Lending, or Underwriting Additional Qualifications: Knowledge of financial principles and concepts including financial statement analysis Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience Proven ability to work independently Credit decisioning experience Credit portfolio management experience Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of ECCF, CreditLens, and/or ACAR Bachelor's Degree in Finance and/or Accounting Benefits are an integral part of total rewards and First Citizens Bank is committed to providing a competitive, thoughtfully designed and quality benefits program to meet the needs of our associates.
