Commercial Division Manager

SUMMARY

The Commercial Division Manager position at Contra Costa Electric, Inc., reports directly to the President & CEO. The Commercial Division Manager provides the organization, control, and direction in the assigned Division to meet the production and profit objectives of Contra Costa Electric, Inc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning & Organizing:

Organization, control, and direction in the Division to meet the production and profit objectives of Contra Costa Electric, Inc Collaborate with the President & CEO to prepare the department expense budget. Setting the Division’s goals and objectives in accordance with the overall corporate objectives. Participate in the Division’s annual Budget process and the budget review process monthly. In cooperation with the President & CEO, determine the various area markets the company will develop. Guide the Business Development staff in the solicitation of future customers for the company in these areas. Maintain current job descriptions for all identified functional positions of the Division.

Controlling activities:

In cooperation with the Project Managers, prioritize Estimating resources on opportunities. Meet Division Profit and Revenue targets. Guiding daily work of the Division personnel who are in a direct reporting relationship. Maintain the workflow in the Division to meet the scheduled bid and completion dates. Coordinate with the operation to determine the priority of each job – especially when dealing with scheduling conflicts for labor and equipment. Maintain performance standards for all work performed in the Division. Complete regular and frequent inspections of all work performed in the Division. Ensure uniform and consistent adherence to all company performance standards. Maintain partnerships with internal and external customers. Enforce the adherence to the Contra Costa Electric uniform project management accounting and procedures. Control, protect, and use entrusted company assets and ensuring that these assets are utilized to generate maximum return (RONA).

Directing and Motivating Activities:

Perform regular performance evaluations of all personnel in a direct reporting relationship. Teach problem identification and solving methods. Maintain the Division’s positive professional image with all other departments, our customers, our vendors, and field personnel. Establish and maintain a positive, growth-oriented work environment. Foster and maintain consistent and uniform cooperation among all departments in the company. Encourage and maintain a system of education, training, and self- improvement for all staff in the Division. Drive safety initiatives, oversee safety protocols, and collaborate with operational teams to cultivate a culture prioritizing safety, ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulations.

Communication Activities:

Maintain positive communication channels to facilitate the unrestricted flow of information through the Division. Encourages positive problem-solving attitudes by directing all conversation to that end. Offers training and self-improvement opportunities to all Division personnel and encourage participation. Attends and participates in all Management Advisory Committee meetings and provides feedback to Division employees about issues affecting the Division. Fosters positive working relationships with clients and field personnel by performing job walks, inspections, follow-up calls, and the appropriate business entertainment.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

5-10 years of Electrical Construction Project Management Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related discipline preferred Working knowledge of the construction industry, operations management, and safety practices a plus. Demonstrated leadership in the Construction Industry Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Division applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).

The physical demands of this position are those associated with working in a typical Division environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear. This role requires communicating verbally and in writing one on one, in small groups, as well as presenting to larger groups of employees.  This role requires the ability to work at a computer (reading and keying) for extended periods of time. The employee must move within the Division to retrieve files and meet with employees in their Division or conference room. The employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally required to travel by car (as a passenger or driver) to Job Sites, or to attend Commercial events/training, and must have the ability to navigate around job sites.
