Commercial Engines & Services Assistant Controller
Job Description SummaryThe role of Commercial Engines & Services (“CES”) Assistant Controller will be responsible for oversight of the CES operational Controllership activities, including the monthly close process, account reconciliations, financial and operational internal controls, remediation of internal audit findings, and statutory filings. This role will partner with CES Channel Controllers, as well as Aerospace HQ and Product Line Finance Managers, to answer questions, provide solutions, and improve accounting processes. Key responsibilities include financial and operational internal controls (e.g. account reconciliations, SOX program), accounting process simplification, wing-to-wing close and reporting activities, and operational controllership excellence to deliver accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing the monthly close process for CES including running divisional controllership daily management; serving as a liaison between CES channel controllership, HQ controllership and product line finance teams; and supporting all external reporting requirements (i.e., Financial Reporting Package (FRP) and Disclosure Request (DR) preparation).Implementing a monthly financial statement review package to be used with CES leadership, including all key financial statements and metrics with commentary.Leading FLIGHT DECK initiatives focused on reducing the close cycle time for the segment, including serving as the overall leader of the Late Manual Journal Entry Problem Solving effortsPartnering with business units and cross-functional teams on internal and external reporting activities, suspense account clearing, edit check clearing, cross-business schedule approvals, variance analysis, and associated projects.Ensures the integrity of financial reporting data through the implementation and execution of internal controls over financial reporting for CES.Key contact for regulatory and external auditors for CES, including by ensuring timely completion of all statutory filings and both US GAAP and statutory audit requests required across the segment.Lead a team through coaching and mentoring direct reports, with ability to attract and retain talent.  Serve as primary liaison for CES Controllership to third party controllership service providers. Partners with Commercial Engines & Services Channel Controllers to streamline the overall close process.Leverage FLIGHT DECK to drive process improvement and simplification projects. Drive wing-to-wing process improvements, using bowler charts and KPI metrics to measure progress and success for CES.Document and maintain leader standard work, as well as CES segment Standard Operating Procedures and Operational Controllership team Desktop Procedures

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university or collegeMinimum of 12 years of experience in an accounting or finance positionStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problemsProven capability to plan and execute several projects simultaneouslyProven ability to deliver results on timeAbility to influence and drive results in a matrixed organization
