Position Summary:

 

The Bentley’s Legal Team is at the forefront of the Bentley’s business, providing critical advice across all aspects of the organisation. You will be joining a legal team which is flexible, supportive and committed to ensuring its members feel valued and fulfilled in their day-to-day practice.

The Legal Team is part of the Bentley Systems, Law and Corporate Advancement Team, with a  direct line to the Deputy Chief Legal Officer at Bentley Systems. We operate as one collaborative team, sharing  information and best practice frequently and across the four regions we operate – APAC, EMEA, NAM, and  LAM. 

As Legal Counsel you will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and guidance to support the  organisation’s commercial initiatives and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will work  closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to manage legal risks, negotiate contracts, and provide  proactive legal support across various business functions at a global level.

In this role it is imperative that you have strong business acumen, legal knowledge, and initiative. You will need to be able to operate at all levels and build strong relationships and lines of communication with all internal teams within the organisation.

 

Your Day-to-Day:

Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including sales contracts, master services agreements, and partnership agreements, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Advise on legal and contractual issues arising from the development, distribution, and licensing of software products. Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and propose strategies to mitigate such risks while promoting the organisation’s goals and objectives. Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends related to technology, AI, machine learning, data protection, and SaaS matters, provide proactive guidance to the organisation on such matters, and work closely with the Global Data Protection Officer on these issues. Develop and deliver training programs on legal and compliance topics to internal teams, enhancing legal awareness and promoting best practices within the organisation. Work closely with the Seequent and Bentley Legal Teams and other departments to establish and maintain effective legal processes, policies, and procedures. This will include working closely and collaboratively with members of the Bentley Systems Legal Team across the globe.

 

What You Bring to The Team:

Law degree and admission to the bar in a relevant jurisdiction. Minimum 3 years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on commercial contracts, technology law, and data protection. And total of 5 to 6 years of experience Demonstrated ability to assess and manage legal risks in a fast-paced, high growth environment. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships across all levels of the organisation and across multiple cultures. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
