Commercial Lines Casualty Consultant

General Description: Technical casualty specialist who assists account placement and service team members. Collaborates with  colleagues on complex matters such as loss responsive programs,  collateral negotiations, comparative policy wording analysis, benchmarking program cost components, and captive insurance.  Utilizes USI and third-party analysis models to perform analytical functions.  Presents findings to clients and prospects.


Responsibilities:

Prepares and interprets casualty analysisCreates and explains output for ModMaster / Loss Forecaster / Advisen BenchmarkingReviews insurance programs (coverage, limits, deductibles, retentions, classifications, et al.), recommend improvementsNegotiates with underwriters regarding coverage terms, conditions and pricing on new and renewal accountsPresents findings and proposals to existing and prospective clientsDevelops business relationships with retail producers and insurance marketsDetermines and communicates financial impactCreates quarterly/semi-annual/annual production of analysis deliverables as required for each accountCreates and explains Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) to clientsDeep understanding of our claim and loss control capabilitiesPromotes and enhances the reputation of USI with carriers and prospectsUnderstands contractual risk transfer, hold harmless and indemnification provisions, and anti-indemnification statutesAssists producers in the sales process using Omni Solutions, writing casualty proposals

Knowledge, Skills, qualities and Abilities:

Five or more years of experience in insurance brokering and / or underwriting, with technical experience in the Casualty segmentStrong knowledge of property / casualty underwriting, coverages and conditionsAbility to compose clear, concise, grammatically correct communicationsStrong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPointAbility to prioritize, manage and process workflow in a timely mannerMust be detail orientedWillingness to commit to a continuing education program and maintain a professional designation (CISR, CIC, CPCU, ARM, etc.)Captive insurance knowledgeMaintaining a valid state insurance licenseA bachelor’s degree is required
