UGL are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our TasWater CDO based in Hobart. The Commercial Manager will promote, encourage and assist senior management and project teams in implementing effective commercial (contractual and financial) practices for the Selfs Point STP Project.
The Selfs Point STP Project is valued in excess of $300m and comprises the new Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant and the Macquarie Point pumping station joined by a new Sewer Rising Main. The role is located on site at the new Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant site located in Hobart.
The purpose of the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is to build the capability and capacity of TasWater to fulfil its customer promises for improved service levels by efficiently and effectively delivering an accelerated capital program of works.
The TasWater CDO will deliver:

What will a day look like in this role
· Commercial and Financial management: Lead the Commercial function for the Selfs Point STP project ensuring strong contract, commercial and financial risk management (including development and implementation of appropriate project controls), and accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue
· Ensure project managers, contract administrators and all relevant project staff understand and comply with commercial requirements in contracts with customers and major/high risk subcontracts as per policies, procedures and guidelines
· Attend contract acceptance and contract review meetings as necessary to ensure commercial and contract administration issues comply with contract requirements, policies and procedures
· Interpret the tender and apply the commercial and contractual agreement both at Head Contract and Sub Contract level as per Security of Payments Act.
· Manage commercial issues, minor and major contract disputes when delegated by senior management
· Assist contract administrators and project managers as needed in commercial matters e.g. claims, contractual issues, disputes, preparing subcontract terms and conditions, and setting up administration procedures on and off site with finance
· People management: Establish and develop a high performance team.

What would we expect you to bring to the team
· Bachelor degree or equivalent in Engineering, Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business or other associated disciplines or Post graduate qualifications eg. graduate certificate, graduate diploma in Commerce, Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Property, Quantity Surveying, Construction Law or other associated disciplines together with relevant industry experience
· Extensive experience in commercial, financial and contract administration gained on construction, engineering or associated projects
· Self-management and commitment to deliver results, with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and autonomously
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills
