The opportunity:

Laing O'Rourke are recruiting a Commercial Manager to join the team at design stage of the new four-storey building (23,600 GIF) at Calderdale Royal Hospital Halifax, West Yorkshire. The project will deliver a new adult and children's accident and emergency department with resuscitation bays and assessment rooms, as well as ten new inpatient wards. Works are currently progressing through Stage 3 Design, with the project to agree a target Cost in Autumn 2025. Works on site will commence early 2026, with handover in 2028. 

What will the role look like?

Sole responsibility for a project, section of a project. Work closely with the commercial lead on the project. Day to day management of Senior Quantity Surveyors Internal financial reporting. Managing risk and leading the risk meetings with the client. Commercial Managment of the design team. Package lead on a number of high value packages.  Oversight of Huddersfield Royal Infirmary Pharmacy Manufacturing PCSA (£15m). Provide contractual and commercial support to work winning. Preparation of monthly management accounts information.
Negotiating with client's representatives, sub-contractors and other consultants to achieve project results whilst maintaining group relationships. Ensure interim applications for payment and certifications are issued and agreed. Preparation of contractual and commercial input into Project Execution Plan.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

Knowledge of NEC4 Degree qualified in relevant discipline (Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management) PCSA experience Healthcare experience A drive to learn and grow to the next grade with desire to learn the risk and opportunity process both internal and with our client.
