JOB TITLE: COMMERCIAL MANAGER

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Commercial Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the successful management and execution of commercial activities within the organisation. This position manages the contracts team, oversees contract negotiations, assists to manage contractor and client relationships and ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Commercial Manager will work closely with project teams to manage risk, optimise financial performance and drive strategic initiatives. Support executive management to identify and mitigate commercial risk. Lead commercial activities related to Company business, Contracts with Clients, Subcontracts with Subcontractors (post- award) and other partnering agreements. Ensure all commercial activities are performed in a professional and ethical manner in full compliance with Company’s values, processes and code of Conduct. Ensure the due diligence is carried out on potential partners / Subcontractors/ Clients (as required). Provide assurance that the risk exposure is properly balanced and the Company's interests are protected contractually by ensuring a robust and rigorous contract review process Ensure that the relevant Contract and the Subcontract management systems are kept up-to-date and are implemented on Projects. Support in the negotiation of contracts for award and ensure a review of the contract acceptability prior to execution and that a comprehensive summary of the critical aspects of the Contract is communicated and handed over for handover to the execution team. Provide guidance to Procurement for resolution of commercial issues with Vendors. Work with the Commercial Director to develop and monitor relevant KPI’s and profitability metrics. Lead, mentor and develop the Contracts and Subcontracts personnel. Ensure the Project Teams are aware of and comply with the commercial terms of all Contracts and Subcontracts. Ensure that the commercial staff assigned to Project Teams comply with Contract and Subcontract management procedures. Ensure that all Contracts and Subcontracts changes are managed effectively from execution through to contract completion with the objective of reducing Project risk exposure and commercial impact. Ensure timely conclusion of Partnering Agreements. Ensure timely conclusion of Contracts with Client. Ensure timely conclusion of Subcontracts with Subcontractors. Responsible for ensuring that the commercial terms of all proposals are compliant with the Company’s risk management appetite and commercial standards. Responsible for ensuring timely submission of contractual inputs for technical /commercial proposals. Supports in finalization and conclusion of partnership agreements / contracts with Clients.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Law or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred. Proven experience in commercial and/or contracts management within the oil and gas or energy sector. Strong negotiation skills and experience managing complex contracts. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data. Ability to coach team members and a strong focus on team collaboration. Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
