The opportunity:

Laing O'Rourke are recruiting a Commercial Manager to join our dynamic team on a 6year, £100m+ Framework building single living accommodation for our armed forces across multiple projects around the UK.

Based in Sale as part of the preconstruction team, with the opportunity to lead the delivery of your own Project onsite.

What will the Commercial Manager role look like?

Responsibility for the PCSA of several projects under an agreed Framework. Initially working as part of a Framework Preconstruction Team, 2025 – 2026. Delivery of projects £50m+ under the Framework, plus overseeing a Senior QS/QS's/AQS's/Trainees on the delivery of £15m+ Projects. Draft, manage and settle Main Contracts and subcontracts. Management and reporting of monthly costs. Day to day management of any trainee, assistant quantity surveyor and/or quantity surveyor. Negotiating with client's representatives, sub-contractors and other consultants to achieve project results whilst maintaining group relationships. Advise project management on contractual implications of intended courses of action. Advise on commercial risks within the project or projects. Management and presentation of monthly contract review reports. Preparation of weekly Business Plan Review (BPR) information. Preparation of monthly management accounts information. Preparation of contractual and commercial input into Project Business Plan, as required. Lead the project “budget to build “from the Contract award. Identify and agree change and implement change control process. Ensure that contract documents are properly executed prior to project commencement. Communicating clearly & confidently to a professional standard Keep your manager fully advised of any issue/risk which has arisen or might arise, and which could affect the business/project.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

Bidding and preconstruction experience Managed the bid, preconstruction and delivery of your own project or support a Commercial Leader on a project of circa £50m+ Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management) RICS Chartership designation preferred. NEC4 and MOD experience would be preferable.
