SLC Management offers a mix of in-office and virtual work where our employees are empowered to do their best. Generally, employees are expected to work three or more days in-office each week with flexibility depending on their business, client and team needs. 

What Is in It for You:

As part of the commercial mortgages team, you will be part of a team of mortgage investment progressionals that are accountable for the oversight of a multi-billion dollar portfolio of mortgage investment assets across Canada. Our mortgages team gives you the oppurtunity to be involved with many facets of the business and work on various projects. As an individual on our commercial mortgages team, you will gain a broad range of exposure across asset classes, department, executive levels, etc.

What You Will Do:

The preparation of many timely key business reports that are required at various frequencies.

Manage the Canadian Mortgage Bond (CMB) program; this will consist of coordinating the new issue process, monthly reinvestments, and any other ad-hoc tasks that arise. Responsible for the coordination of team members from the following teams across the company who aid in the operation of the CMB program including: Mortgages, Operations, Accounting, Portfolio Management, Public Bonds, Derivatives

Assist with the portfolio management of the Sun Life Capital (SLC) Canadian Commercial Mortgage Fund; this will consist of cash management/forecasting, legal, compliance, capital raising (Request for Proposal/Request for Information), and investor relations.

Assist, as necessary, with the strategy of the overall business including the development of marketing materials, new fund creation, etc.   

Ad-hoc projects to support the Commercial Mortgage businesses.

Assist with pulling together and updating Business Plans for Mortgages; updating and manage changes to the guidelines, lower tier orders, process documents, Asset and Liability Management (ALM) requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) etc.

Research and analysis of market data for the Canadian Real Estate / Mortgage Market.

Preparing/Organizing and taking the minutes of various management meetings.

Liaising with mortgage operations to ensure system data is complete and accurate to facilitate production reporting.

SLC Management is a regulated business, and this means that there are certain financial reporting and trading preclearance requirements for all employees. Successful candidates will be required to declare personal investment accounts and securities investments as well as seek preclearance on future transactions including those of household members. 

When a new position becomes available which matches your background and experience, the base pay range will be disclosed and correspond to the opportunity Sun Life will consider you for.

In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
