Commercial-Procurement Manager

As part of our expansion in Europe, we are looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated Commercial Manager with Procurement Expertise to play a key role in driving business growth through strategic commercial management and procurement activities.

This hybrid role combines the responsibilities of managing commercial relationships and negotiating contracts, while also coordinating procurement processes to ensure the timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services for the region or local markets.

You will work closely with both internal teams and external collaborators, including customers, suppliers, and partners, to deliver high-value solutions and contribute to the overall success of our telecommunications offerings.

This role is preferably based in UK and may require travel to other project and customer locations in Europe.

Role and Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement commercial strategies that align with business objectives. Work with the sales teams to create compelling value propositions and customer-focused solutions.

Market Insights & Competitive Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities. Use insights to shape commercial offerings, pricing strategies, and business development plans.

Pricing & Profitability: Lead the development of pricing models and ensure that commercial terms align with both customer needs and company profitability objectives. Provide recommendations for pricing adjustments based on market dynamics.

Contract Management: Take full ownership of the customer, vendor and other commercial agreements throughout the contract lifecycle. This includes drafting, reviewing and negotiating the agreements but also Risk Management and Contract Administration. Ensure terms are favourable to the company, ensure compliance with corporate policies, legal and regulatory requirements as well as timely execution and

Sourcing & Vendor Management: Lead the procurement process for telecommunications equipment, network infrastructure, and services by nurturing strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Develop cost-effective sourcing strategies for the business, ensure the best terms and pricing for materials and services short/mid/long term. Monitor supplier performance to ensure contractual obligations are met.

Travel requirement: 10% - 30%.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

Strong “hands-on” mentality working from strategic to detailed tactical level

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering and MBA is a plus

Demonstrated ability in telecom commercial management and contract management within the technology or telecommunications industry.

Experience and understanding of Radio Access Networks including Open RAN

Existing contacts and trusted relationships within Vodafone

Strong influencing and negotiation skills that drive successful outcomes in complex sales scenarios.

A proven track record in business development, including experience in sales strategy, pricing models, and contract management.

Ability to balance commercial objectives with operational and legal requirements to optimise profitability and minimise risk.

Strong capability to understand and address customer needs, develop tailored solutions, and champion long-term relationships with collaborators at all levels.

A creative, driven, and flexible approach to sales, with excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across different functions within a matrixed organisation.

MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint (High Competence)

Numerate with excellent report writing skills

What does success look like?

Developed excellent customer relationships and will be seen both internally and by the client and vendor partner as the primary, go-to contact for ensuring account success and satisfaction.

Identified key partners within the client or partner organisation and built strong, positive relationships from the outset to cultivate collaboration and trust.

Created a comprehensive commercial strategy in collaboration with the internal teams, understanding key deliverables, timelines, and opportunities for growth.

You will have established clear communication channels and governance structures with the client, providing regular updates on performance, timelines, risks, issues, and mitigation strategies.

Within Samsung, you will be recognised as a proactive team member who works seamlessly with internal teams, including sales, operations, and legal, to deliver exceptional results for clients.

The interview process

Following the screening of candidate CVs there will be a minimum 3 stage recruitment process.

1.Initial Screening – General Suitability

A first-round interview to assess the candidate’s background, experience, and overall fit for the role. This stage focuses on understanding their motivation, key competencies, and alignment with what we value.

2. Commercial Assessment – Case Study

Candidates will be given a case relevant to the role to evaluate their commercial competence, problem-solving skills, and ability to develop strategic client solutions. They will present their approach and recommendations.

3.Executive & Peer Interview

Final interviews with senior leadership and potential colleagues to assess cultural fit, leadership potential, and collaboration style. This stage ensures alignment with the broader team and organisational goals.
