Commercial Service Technician

The Commercial Service Technician is a senior level technician with advanced technical skills.  With strong knowledge of IPTV/VOIP, CAT 5/6, Networking, Wireless and fiber troubleshooting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install, maintain, or repair technology related systems, alarm devices, and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans on commercial and residential properties. Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, and video cameras, and attach electrical and telephone wiring in order to connect components. Install, maintain and/or repair and test data cable, and wiring and other security systems related hardware. Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures have been met. Identify, troubleshoots and resolve hardware, software, and basic network related problems encountered by end-users of the network. Proficient installation of fiber optic and IP delivery theory when using IP, RF and test equipment, with signal meters, butt-sets, power meter and power source light, and other typical tools and test equipment. Test and ensure cable system operations, modern telecom video, voice, security, monitoring and data products and services at completion of installation. Perform troubleshooting, analysis and takes corrective actions on complex service affecting issues originating from the OLT through to all connected devices. Provides leadership and mentoring to lower level technicians and utilizes previous technical issue identification to develop processes and training to reduce re-occurrence. Identifies, evaluates and resolves residential and commercial service affecting issues from the OLT to on premise devices. Ensures proficiency and complete understanding of FTTH systems and all related home components delivering video, data, voice and security services as well as residential Wi-Fi and home networking. Troubleshoot and resolve service failures related to computer hardware, software and internet. Compliant with safety procedures and requirements. Completes all other tasks and responsibilities, which may be reasonably required by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree in Internet Technologies or Engineering is preferred Must have active and clean, non-restrictive, state issued driver’s license in State where hired. Tech Level III or Level IV required. Tech must be able to work in the commercial environment Must have minimum of 3-5 years’ experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet Knowledge in various telecommunications systems and practices Must have Fiber Optic Cabling experience Cisco Certifications, CCT or CCENT entry level certificates and Microsoft Certifications, MCSA for Office Ability to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays and participate with on-call rotation as needed
