FORTNA is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our team. We are searching for an aggressive candidate who desires a challenging career filled with creativity and innovation.
This position involves heavy travel (50-75%) to commission, test and verify new automation throughout the U.S. This is a great opportunity for junior engineers who are ready to start a rewarding pathway to other areas of automation such as control system design, PLC and HMI programming.
Tasks & Key Responsibilities:
Debug various automation systems
Engage in some configuration and minor programming
Test system performance
Verification and validation of engineered system (hardware and/or software) to specifications
Interface with clients and subcontractors and resolve problems and issues satisfactorily
Design pre-punched enclosures and subpanels utilizing AutoCAD
Create and update project “workbook,” pre-check electrical drawings for accuracy/completeness, UL requirements prior to quoting and material ordering
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or, Computer Engineering or related field
3-5 years’ experience in automation, control system design, PLC and HMI programming
Knowledgeable of electrical and controls engineering theories and principles
Significant electrical aptitude and knowledge of acceptable practices, techniques, and codes
VFD experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens or Schneider is a plus but not required
PLC experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix & CompactLogix), Modicon and Siemens (S7) is a plus but not required
HMI experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Wonderware, Ignition and WinCC is a plus but not required
AutoCAD experience to create electrical drawings and schematics.
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, and written skills
Skills in AutoCAD, MS Office suite and MS Project
Ability to deal with experienced, multidisciplinary, technical specialists
Ability to coordinate small to large projects independently, and make quality decisions
Skilled in Engineering science: Logic and Programming
Skilled with AutoCAD and design of electrical panels, creating electrical drawings and schematics
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
TRAVEL: Generally, this position requires up to 50-75% travel to various sites.
