Position Overview

As Kiewit's Commissioning Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of planning and delivering critical commissioning activities for large industrial projects, including data centers. From the Front-End Loading (FEL) phase to Detailed Design, you’ll drive steady-state operability and tackle transient conditions like pre-commissioning, startup, and emergency shutdowns.

 

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a robust background in an industrial environments, especially when it comes to critical power systems, HVAC, cooling, and network architecture for high-availability facilities. You’ll sponsor estimates, schedules, and technical input for operating documents. Think data center operating philosophies, redundancy designs, cooling system manuals, and more. As our Commissioning Manager, you’ll also work closely with the Proposal Manager and the Director of Commissioning, ensuring man-hour estimates align with project requirements.

Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities. 

Location

This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS or Houston, TX office. The successful candidate will also be available to travel to our projects (rotations are available).

Responsibilities Participates in PFD / P&ID Reviews, Technical / Hazard Reviews, Factory Acceptance Tests, Model Reviews, and Project Meetings for data centers. Develops and writes Training Programs, Operating Philosophies, Basic Engineering Package Operating Manuals, Operating Instructions Manuals (to OSHA Standards if required), Utilities / Off-sites Manuals (to OSHA Standards if required), Laboratory Manuals / Laboratory Equipment Specifications, Pre-commissioning / Commissioning Procedures, Maintenance Manuals, Chemical Cleaning Documents, and Tie-In Procedures. Creates Lubrication Schedules, Systems Priority / Turnover Identification Packages, and Man-hour Estimates for new proposals. Manages scheduling for CSU staff, including issuing dates for estimates, operating philosophies, manuals, safety documents, and more. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline or 10 to 15 years of equivalent work experience 15+ years of CSU experience, including one previous assignment in a Senior CSU Leadership Role.   Knowledge of internal engineering systems and tools. Understanding of Flow Measurement, Engineering practices, design methods & calculations. Knowledge of PC, Windows, Office Software and IT implementation background. Industrial Commissioning Safety Standards and requirements Capable to Read, interpret & prepare applicable technical information. Knowledge and maintenance of PLC and PC based control systems.
