PROJECT OVERIEW
The new Equipment and Process Innovation and Commercialization (EPIC) Center, located in Sunnyvale, California, will revolutionize semiconductor manufacturing by advancing U.S. leadership in the industry. This cutting-edge facility will serve as a high-velocity, collaborative platform, changing the way foundational semiconductor technologies and process equipment are developed and commercialized. The EPIC Center is designed to accelerate industry time-to-market and reduce overall research and development costs, shaping the future of chip manufacturing and innovation. The project is a collaboration with Applied Materials and is a critical step in fostering innovation in the semiconductor industry, helping drive the U.S. to the forefront of this technology.
POSITION OVERIEW
The MEP Commissioning Field Technician will play a key role in the commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems at the EPIC Center construction site. This position is responsible for the hands-on verification, testing, and startup of MEP systems to ensure operational readiness in alignment with project specifications and safety standards. Working closely with design teams, subcontractors, and project management, the technician will contribute to the efficient, safe, and timely commissioning of systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Perform commissioning and startup of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems.
+ Collaborate with design professionals, subcontractors, and project teams to address complex coordination issues related to MEP systems.
+ Ensure all systems are constructed and operationally ready for startup, including verification of safety protocols.
+ Assist the commissioning team in managing startup schedules and coordinating system readiness with project management.
+ Conduct onsite inspections of client Furnished Equipment and systems to ensure readiness for commissioning.
+ Perform system performance tests and provide troubleshooting support to ensure operational functionality.
+ Review commissioning documentation for accuracy and ensure that equipment meets startup criteria.
+ Organize and facilitate the training of client personnel on the operations and maintenance of all systems.
+ Provide updates on system performance, issues, and status to project management and other stakeholders.
+ Participate in commissioning meetings and other project-related discussions to drive progress and resolve any concerns.
+ Ensure that all work complies with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
+ Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities, test results, and inspections.
+ Work with Mechanical, Electrical, and Low Voltage Project Managers to ensure coordination of commissioning efforts.
+ Perform field surveying and assist with layout control lines and benchmarks as required by the project.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Strong understanding of water/wastewater, HVAC, and electrical systems in commissioning projects.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP systems commissioning or a similar technical field.
+ Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture , or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience preferrred.
+ Experience with commissioning and startup procedures for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection , and other related systems.
+ Ability to read and interpret MEP system design drawings , schematics, and specifications.
+ Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulatory requirements for MEP systems.
+ Experience with project management software such as Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6). Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues.
+ Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records of work completed.
+ Flexibility to work extended hours or off-shift hours as needed to accommodate construction schedules.
+ Experience in large-scale construction projects , particularly in semiconductor or technology manufacturing environments.
+ OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
