Commissioning Technician

Lead the mechanical commissioning lifecycle for high-performing buildings, ensuring systems operate per design and performance targets. Provide technical expertise, oversight, and mentorship.

Responsibilities:

Validate building performance through commissioning, re-commissioning, and retro-commissioning. Verify HVAC system functionality (point-by-point checks, sequence of operations testing). Participate in construction meetings and lead commissioning sessions, conduct and coordinate owners training, documenting and communicating action items. Inspect mechanical and plumbing installations for adherence to specifications. Program and configure Johnson Controls automation platforms. Perform Test & Balance (TAB) measurements (primarily retro-commissioning, potential for new construction). Generate technical commissioning reports. Collaborate on project documents (sequences of operations, basis of design, owner project requirements). Manage project lifecycle: strategy, resources, timelines, and deliverables. Ensure organized documentation and reporting of project activities. Review designs for commissioning considerations (new construction) and analyze existing documentation (re/retro-commissioning). Evaluate mechanical and plumbing submittals for compliance. Manage project budgets, invoices, and financial forecasts. Mentor Commissioning Group personnel.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of HVAC, building operations, or construction commissioning experience. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle. Professional representation of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

Preferred:

Background in mechanical and plumbing system design.

Work Environment:

Will involve construction site conditions and lifting/carrying field equipment.
