Commodity Manager

As our Commodity Manager, you will own the end-to-end strategy for one or more spend categories—driving cost, quality, innovation, and risk management goals. You’ll develop and execute a comprehensive Category Management Plan, lead high-stake supplier negotiations, and foster strategic partnerships that deliver sustainable value across the business. 

Key Responsibilities 

Category Strategy & Planning  Define and implement a multi-year Category Management Plan (CMP) aligned to corporate objectives (cost savings, innovation, sustainability).  Segment spend, set annual targets (savings, supplier diversity, risk mitigation), and track progress against KPIs.  Supplier Relationship & Performance Management  Lead supplier selection, onboarding, and performance reviews for your commodity.  Establish scorecards (on time delivery, quality, total cost of ownership) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.  Contract Negotiation & Governance  Own negotiation of master agreements, volume-based pricing, service level agreements, and T&Cs.  Collaborate with Legal to ensure contracts adhere to compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements.  Market Intelligence & Risk Mitigation  Monitor global market dynamics, raw material pricing trends, and geopolitical risks; develop contingency and hedging strategies.  Conduct regular risk assessments and maintain supply continuity plans (dual sourcing, safety stock).  Cross Functional Collaboration  Partner with R&D/Engineering to incorporate new materials or design for cost opportunities.  Work with Operations, Quality, and Finance to align forecasts, budgets, and supplier capabilities.  Value Creation & Innovation  Identify alternative materials, process improvements, and joint cost reduction programs with suppliers.  Champion sustainability and supplier diversity initiatives within your category. 

Required Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.  5+ years of strategic category or commodity management experience (manufacturing, industrial, IT, or similar).  Proven track record negotiating multimillion dollar contracts and delivering ≥5% annual savings.  Deep market intelligence skills to interpret market data and translate into actionable strategy.  Strong analytical capability with proficiency in spend analytics tools and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.). 

Preferred Skills & Competencies 

Leadership & Influence: Skilled at driving cross functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders.  Certification: CPSM, CSCP, or equivalent professional procurement certification.  Communication: Executive level presentation skills and persuasive negotiation style.  Innovation Mindset: Track record of launching new supplier driven product or process innovations.  Risk Management: Experience with supply chain risk frameworks and business continuity planning. 

Working Conditions & Travel 

Primarily office based; up to 25% travel for supplier visits, industry conferences, and onsite audits.  Fast paced environment requiring proactive problem solving and strategic agility.

Bonus or Equity
This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range
The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 71,100.00 - 132,100.00
