Commodity Manager

You will be responsible for the strategic direction of the respective commodities, this position drives cost containment, supplier development, and supplier performance initiatives.  The role is also the focal point for engineered to order projects as they pertain to the commodity.  The Commodity Manager will work closely with the Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Planning departments.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: 

Develop a strategy for the commodity and put policies in place to ensure strategy is implemented and maintained; assess supplier capability, capacity, cost structure, and performance against targets; prepare and evaluate electronic RFXs Negotiate long-term agreements with a focus on cost containment, speed, quality, and payment terms improvement; maintain relationships with preferred suppliers; resolve supply issues and develop supply chain risk mitigation and contingency plans Review parts and product with suppliers as necessary to develop and initiate containment and cost reduction opportunities; coordinate efforts between suppliers, Supplier Quality Engineering and Manufacturing/Design Engineering departments as necessary to support cost containment and cost reduction project implementation Develop and maintain systems and processes necessary to maintain and drive supplier- suggested cost reduction; analyze technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations and supplier facilities Coordinate efforts between suppliers, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Procurement to facilitate material substitutions, standardization, rework and salvage of purchased materials Develop effective relationships with business group management to ensure that business unit benefits from group leverage opportunities Deliver results for key performance metrics (Day Payables Outstanding, Net Material Inflation, and Parts Per Million)

For This Role, You Will Need:

Degree in engineering  3+ years’ experience in procurement /supply chain/sourcing  Fluent level in English; other language skills are an advantage, proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.) Knowledge of effective interaction and dealing with suppliers – intercompany and external
Good team player with passion, customer focus, a demonstrated sense of urgency to resolve conflicts as they arise, & the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Tact and diplomacy is required in relations with suppliers and internal customers Available for international travel as required (25%) 

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart: 

Understanding materials flow, material management and strategies Demonstrated negotiation skills, technical understanding, knowledge of MRP (preferred Oracle), inventory management Understanding concepts of lean technics’ is an advantage  Ability to work collaboratively and successfully within a matrix organization
