Commodity Manager

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

1.   Commodity Strategy Development:

Develop and implement a comprehensive commodity strategy aligned with the company's objectives and growth plans. Conduct market analysis and assess supply chain risks to find opportunities for cost optimization, supplier consolidation, and supply chain resilience. Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the supply chain, such as geopolitical, regulatory, or environmental factors, and develop risk mitigation plans.

2.   Cost Management and Negotiation:

Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiations, value engineering, eSourcing and alternative sourcing strategies. Keep informed of commodity pricing trends and market dynamics to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate price fluctuations. Implement cost-tracking mechanisms and develop cost models to measure and report savings achieved.

4.  Procurement and Sourcing:

Collaborate with internal collaborators, such as engineering, manufacturing, and operations, to understand commodity requirements and specifications. Own the procurement process, including RFQs (Request for Quotation), bid evaluations, and supplier selection. Optimize inventory levels, lead times, and delivery schedules to minimize supply chain disruptions and meet production requirements.

5.  Supplier Management and Performance:

Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their capabilities, quality standards, reliability, and cost competitiveness. Manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring clear communication, adherence to contractual agreements, and resolution of any supplier-related issues. Watch supplier performance, conduct periodic supplier evaluations, and implement improvement plans as required.

6.   Continuous Improvement:

Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements, automation, and digitization to improve efficiency and effectiveness in commodity management. Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and standard processes in commodity management, and apply relevant knowledge to drive continuous improvement.

3.  Risk Management and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, ethical standards, and corporate policies. Guarantee that supplier compliance with quality standards, certifications, and sustainability requirements are being met.

For This Role, You Will Need:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field.  Relevant years of proven experiences in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier performance or relevant experience commensurate with the level of this position. Proficiency of relevant mechanical and electrical commodities. Proficiency in supply chain management practices, including strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost optimization. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making. Strong negotiation and communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers, internal partners, and cross-functional teams. Experience with supply chain risk management, including contingency planning and business continuity strategies. Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, Excel, and Power Point. Ability to travel 15%

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

MBA with a concentration in Supply Chain or Logistics 5+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier performance or relevant experience.
