We are seeking an experienced Commodity Manager to join our Architectural Metals business and take ownership of managing assigned commodities. This role is critical in executing strategic purchasing activities and fostering strong cross-functional collaboration with teams in Research & Development, Manufacturing, and Inventory Control. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional negotiation skills, a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, and a proactive approach to achieving cost efficiencies while driving value across the organization.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement sourcing plans for assigned commodities to support business objectives. Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery. Negotiations: Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings, mitigate risks, and ensure long-term value. Market Analysis: Analyze global commodity markets, supplier performance, and risk factors to inform procurement strategies. Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with production, engineering, and operations teams to align sourcing strategies with business requirements. Supplier Performance Management: Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards, delivery timelines, and contractual obligations. Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost reduction, value improvement, and supplier consolidation opportunities. Problem Solving: Resolve supply chain disruptions such as shortages, quality issues, and capacity constraints. Industry Awareness: Stay updated on global market trends, trade regulations, and industry developments to proactively address potential impacts. Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Strong written and verbal communication skills. In-depth understanding of purchasing processes and strategies. Expertise in inventory management principles. Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, including purchasing and inventory management. Working Conditions Office environment with a fast-paced atmosphere. Regular visits to plants and suppliers. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM. Travel RequirementThis position requires up to 25% travel to supplier locations, industry events, or company sites.
