Commodity Trader
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a Commodity Trader to join our team. The Commodity Trader is responsible for the sales, trading, and management of assigned commodities with the primary aim to achieve budget. This includes the development, implementation, and management of trading strategies within approved policies for the profitable operation of the business unit. This role will be based fully onsite at our Corporate office in Greeley, CO.
Responsibilities:
Drive sales to achieve budgetary and company targets as set, including profit targets, cash flow return on assets, and working capital requirementsDevelop, in conjunction with the commercial managers, sales, trading, and operational strategies that are realistic and profitableIdentify growth opportunities though the leverage of existing assets and the identification of new opportunities in conjunction with business development and projectsOverall development of the sales process, including the customer base and servicing of existing customersMaintain effective relationships with internal counterparts, customers, and third-party suppliersManage designated key customers/destinations as a complete package to ensure that the Company's trading activities exceed the expectations of new and existing buyers and suppliersWork with shipping, logistics, rail, finance, and other functions that impact on key accounts and relevant commoditiesLiaise with the Commercial Manager concerning process issues in the Trading and Administration areasPromote the activities of trading of commodities on a daily basisEnsure the appropriate protection of the Company's financial interests by conscious and active risk managementOther duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Agricultural Business, Animal Science, Business Administration, Economics, or related field5-10 years’ relevant industry experiencePrevious physical commodity trading experience highly desiredDemonstrated success leading a team in a commercial environmentSales and marketing experienceStrong knowledge of International Shipping and Logistics processesStrong organizational skills and the ability to multi-taskProblem solving skillsStrong knowledge of agricultural supply systems and exporting/importing/logistics for perishable commoditiesMicrosoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OutlookCan perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodationAs a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule; Base salary range of $90,000-$120,000; andIncentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
