About the Role
Join our dynamic field operations team as a Communications Technologist, where you will play a crucial role in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of a wide range of communications equipment and systems. This includes RF carriers, multiplex equipment, IP networks, mobile radios, fiber optics, and more. You will also manage the upkeep of radio site support systems including buildings, HVAC, and site grounds.
What You’ll Do:
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with communications systems, analyze failures, and provide detailed reports and corrective actions. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all assigned equipment, ensuring operational reliability and efficiency. Configure and maintain IP Network equipment, conducting regular system performance checks. Install and maintain telecommunication equipment, including AC and DC components within radio buildings. Construct and wire telecommunication panels, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards. Manage contractor activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Participate in budgeting processes, provide input into financial forecasts and manage resources effectively. Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in system operations and maintenance practices. Engage in mentoring and training junior technicians, enhancing team skills and performance. Document all activities accurately in the company’s Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo). Travel to remote areas as required, managing on-site operations and ensuring effective communication with team members and stakeholders.What You’ll Bring:
A Technical Diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field from a recognized institute of technology. At least 2 years of relevant experience in communications technology. Strong skills in IP networking and general computer proficiency. A valid Class 5 operator’s license. A willingness to travel and work in various outdoor conditions and participate in safety training and emergency response as required.An expectation of the Communications Technologist position is to sometimes provide after-hours stand-by duties. As such, you will be required to maintain a residence within 60 minutes of 9602 123st, AB.
