This position is devoted to work involving citizen engagement, public education, public information, and marketing. Performs fully-proficient public information, marketing, education, outreach or program coordination that requires independent evaluation and analysis of issues and the exercise of judgment, education and experience to select and apply criteria to resolve problems and make recommendations. Decision-making includes selecting the method to address a problem or issue, subject to the constraints established by management objectives and direction. Responsible for designing, editing and producing informational materials; writing news releases and speeches; creating public service announcements; coordinating special events; responding to media requests and performing media relations; promoting special events; developing communications and marketing materials; developing social media campaigns and updating social media; conducting marketing research; and recommending communications strategies. Duties/Responsibilities This position in the City-County Planning Department will primarily be responsible for the duties listed below (this list is not all job duties): + Preparation of graphics for public information, PowerPoints, and educational materials. + Preparation of content for website and website management. + Support for engagement events and other public meetings. + Developing and implementing communications plans. + Creating social media content. Minimum Qualifications & Experience + Bachelor’s Degree in business or public administration, communications, or directly related field OR equivalent experience. + One year of professional communications, web and graphic design, media relations, public information, or video production experience.
