**POSITION DETAILS**
This position requires both writing and design skills, the ability to manage both long-term and short-term projects simultaneously, and the ability to work closely with a large number of faculty and staff.
Reporting to the Dean of Humanities and the Arts, the Communications and Events Specialist will:
• Promote and publicize the work of the Division and its constituent departments and programs
• Research, develop, and write content for a variety of needs: ad copy, press releases and articles, web and social media posts, and grants and reports, as needed
• Maintain a request/queue system for the promotion of events and accomplishments
• Responsible for all aspects of producing a twice-monthly electronic newsletter and producing the division’s annual report
• Write and design additional announcements, as needed
• Work with the Assistant to the Dean to manage distribution of publicity materials
• Organize special events for the division; support departments in significant events and manage publicity for them
• Distribute press releases to key media contacts
• Develop and implement marketing, advertising and communications for events
• Mentor and supervise student writers
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
• Graduate study in a humanities or arts field
• Track record in promoting the work of higher education
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, research and organization skills
• Excellent time management skills: demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan and manage multiple projects, and meet strict deadlines
• Experience working with digital media
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; self-starter with a positive approach to management and team building
**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**
Assists in establishing and maintaining relationships with external entities and communities, representing the College's positions and interests
- Serves as a liaison to one or more external organizations, representing the College and building working relationships with the leadership of these organizations
- Plans and implements communications campaigns, working with publications staff
- Develops an understanding of the concerns of external organizations and communicates these to appropriate College management
- Plans public activities and contributes to marketing of College activities and programs to external groups
- With College publications and editorial personnel, plans, writes, and produces publicity materials and other external communications
- May maintain relationships with media representatives
- Performs related duties as assigned.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**
Salary Range: $55,450 - $72,145. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
**CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.**
