Communications and Network Engineer

Akima Systems Engineering is looking for a Communications and Network Engineer to manage systems for the US Coast Guard's C5I Service Center.

Responsibilities

Responsible for telecommunication and network planning; engineering analysis; network system development and implementation; development of testing and diagnostic software; development of communication network software development tools; and telecommunications and network troubleshooting.

Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the network infrastructure.

Performs maintenance of file servers and network devices including the restoration of hardware and software.

Anticipates and mitigates potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system.

Works with end users and vendors to resolve network hardware and software issues.

May develop and administer end-user training to achieve efficient utilization of LAN/WAN.

Reviews progress and evaluates results. Performs work under minimal supervision.

Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.

Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. May act as a lead.

Qualifications

Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering or Communications Engineering and four (4) years of work experience in the field of communications/network engineering is required.

A current System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or equivalent certification is required.

A Secret clearance is required.

Pay Range

90-102000
