Job Description:

COMMUNICATIONS AND SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To support the Advocacy and Communications department in the Middle East/Eastern Europe Regional Office (MEERO) with communications and social media strategy, content, activities, engagement and monitoring.To manage and build World Vision MEERO’s reputation through external communications and community engagement by connecting with and activating various regional and global audiences, including the general public.To support and monitor the achievement of communications objectives at Field Office (FO) and Regional Office (RO) level.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Development and Management

Develop and deliver on MEERO’s media (including social) engagement plan in alignment with regional priorities and reflective of internal and external audience requirements Lead on MEER social media engagement and strategy in collaboration with the team, including proactively positioning MEER countries on internal and external regional and global channelsDevelop content (e.g. design/edit tiles, photos, and video content) for MEERO that can be posted across regional social media platforms and on the websiteCreate regional content as needed to support the release of MEERO publicationsDesign social media and messaging packs for key events and anniversaries (e.g. World Refugee Day, 16 days of activism against GBV, World Food Day) in collaboration with the team and the wider WV networkCollaborate with FOs to ensure a steady flow of communications and social media content is produced for Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram and Threads (including photos, videos, tiles and posts) in accordance with MEERO’s social media calendarSupport FOs with their national social media activity to ensure high quality and compliance with World Vision’s tone of voiceSupport FOs and MEERO with communications and social media during external engagement events, conferences, and webinarsRollout Sprout analytics monitoring for the region in coordination with the Global Communications team

Manage Social Media Channels

Post social media content on MEERO’s four platforms, monitoring comments, engagement, platform analytics, and adapting content accordinglyGrow and develop the regional social media channels through targeted content programming and ensure they are meeting the established measurement frameworkRecommend innovative content opportunities and approaches and experiment with boosting and to increase MEERO’s reach.

Reputation, Positioning, and Brand Management

Write and pitch regionally-focused content to targeted external and internal stakeholders as neededAlign MEERO public & external engagement communications efforts and messaging to speak with one clear, authentic, and effective voice during key moments​ and in social conversations, especially those relevant to regional contextEnsure all MEER communications and publications align with World Vision style and brand guidelines 

Support RO, communications and advocacy team and FO communicators

Support Senior Advisor for Advocacy and External  Engagement in preparation of advocacy reports, position papers and concept papers on child well-being issues that can contribute to policy dialogue, especially humanitarian advocacy within MEERSupport Regional Communications Officer as needed with bi-monthly meetings with FO communicators, website updates, and other communications supportDevelop content to position MEERO with key Support Offices (SOs), influencers and media powerholders Enable FOs to craft communications outputs that align with MEERO priorities (and ensure their amplification across the Partnership)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Diploma or Bachelor degree in Humanitarian Aid, International Development, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Social Sciences or related field (or equivalent experience)At least 5+ years work experience, with 2–3 years’ experience in video editing, communications, public or external engagement, social media initiatives, or related fieldUnderstanding of humanitarian relief, recovery, and development work across all contextsUnderstanding and experience with all social media platforms, including posting, engaging and tracking analyticsFluency in computer programmes (such as Word, Excel, Power Point) and knowledgeable on video editing and use of design platforms, such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and PremiereSolid research, reporting, editing, media engagement, and writing skills, including for social media postsExcellent networking and relationship building skillsAbility to facilitate the collection of photo, video, story and social media resources remotelyAbility to work under pressure remotely within a diverse team and multitask accordinglyEager to be creative and innovative when it comes to social media engagement

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Content development experience (writing, filming, photography, and any type of audiovisual production) will be an assetAbility to work independently and be a self-starterExperience working in a fragile context is an advantageCertification or training in emergencies and security

TRAVEL AND/OR WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENT

The position is based in any country within MEER where WVI is registered to operate.Must be in good physical healthEnglish written and spoken fluency, required
