Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Associate, Latin America


We are searching for an experienced Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Associate, Latin America at our Sao Paulo facility. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Programme context  
The Investments in Forests and Sustainable Land Use Programme – Phase 2 (IFSLU2) is the flagship programme in the Nature Based Capital and Climate, Environment and Natural Resources practice area at Palladium. IFSLU2 is split into three components, this position is primarily focused on Components 1 and 2, with collaboration and coordination opportunities for working with Component 3. IFSLU2 is a grants and technical assistance facility that supports businesses and investment models in which the private sector, public sector and communities can achieve improved returns from forests and sustainable land use whilst protecting existing forest, restoring degraded land and improving agricultural land management and production practices. All this work is focused across the tropical forests belt.   

IFSLU2 will run for 5 years from 1 February 2025. Depending on performance and subject to funding, the programme may be extended for a further 5 years (up to 2035). The programme is funded by the UK government.  

IFSLU2 also feeds into the strategy and programme design of other programmes undertaken by Palladium Nature Based Capital and Climate, Environment and Natural Resources practice areas – IFSLU2 is an important programme in this regard.  

Purpose of the position 
This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent communications professional to work on a large-scale five-year global programme alongside an experienced team supporting action on climate change. As the CSE Associate (Latam), you will support the delivery of programme communications both internally and externally, and the engagement of key regional stakeholders. The position will be based out of the São Paulo Palladium office in Brazil. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The postholder will support the delivery of day-to-day internal and external communications and stakeholder engagement activities and, specifically, will: 

Support the planning and coordination of online and in-person local and regional events, including programme launch activities, pipeline building events, and webinars and roundtables to share programme learnings with programme stakeholders; Help develop strong and engaging communications and knowledge products including films, blogs, articles, press releases, and reports to help convey compelling stories and programme results from Latam, ensuring the correct use of the programme’s brand assets; Coordinatingly closely with the CSE Lead, help to develop content for the P4F LinkedIn account, website, newsletter, and other digital channels which represent core communications channels for the programme; 
Working closely with the Regional Manager and Latam team, support on an initial mapping exercise of regional stakeholders (e.g. incubators, global commodity platforms, investors, finance networks, corporate and DFIs), and support on designing engagement objectives for different groups; 
Help to effectively manage relationships with existing and new external stakeholders and their ongoing engagement with the Programme and keep the programme’s contact database up to date; 
Create, plan and measure effective email communications campaigns and improve the quality of existing contact data in line with GDPR requirements; 
Help to keep the Knowledge Hub for Latam up to date with new communications outputs and materials, coordinatingly closely with the CSE Lead;  
Support the Regional Manager on the creation of programme reports including the Inception Report and Annual Reports, ensuring correct use of the programme branded assets; 
Coordinate in-person and online meetings with internal and external programme stakeholders;  
Deliver communications about grant funding and other opportunities under the Programme;  
Support on the delivery of activities and outputs to support the programme’s Learning Agenda; 
Provide support to Latam’s ‘Enabling Conditions’ and ‘Demand-side Measures’ project portfolio with a communications or stakeholder engagement component where there is capacity and need to do so;  
Support the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Lead in carrying out the annual consultation process (including surveys); 
Support the delivery and response to reputational risk activities; 
Support the delivery of communications activities for other climate on nature initiatives for the Latam region, where there is a need and capacity to do so; and 
Any other duties reasonably required by the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Lead or Regional Manager. 

Reporting, supervision and travel 
The position will report to the Latam Regional Manager, coordinating closely with the central CSE Lead, based in the UK.  The Associate will also work closely with the wider CSE team who will support on the delivery of programme communications activities across all the regions. 
The role may include international travel, sometimes at short notice. 

Required Qualifications:

Required

Great communicator who is able to build strong working relationships both internally and externally; 
Competent at copywriting for different channels;  
Good knowledge of digital channels and tailoring content to their requirements;  
Strong in use of MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); 
Good digital design skills and ability to create online assets (e.g. InDesign desirable); 
Excellent organisational, inter-personal administration and communication skills; 
Professional fluency in Portuguese and English; and, 
Able to work within a fast-paced team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality communications products. 

 Desirable: 

Experience working on FCDO-funded or relevant donor programmes in a similar role; 
Video production and editing skills; 
Proficiency in Spanish; 
Project management, especially involving private sector focused development programmes and clients; Experience in tropical forests, sustainable land use and agriculture systems development programmes
